| What Goodyear Tires says about the Eagle RSA's is quite different from what actual customers say. Sadly, this tire has not stood up to the claims of Goodyear, Sears Tire Center, or other large retailers. To start this review page off, let's look at how the manufacturer and large retailers (such as Discount Tire Company and TireRack.com) position the RSA's:
CLICK HERE to get straight to the summaries of non-Biased reviews on Goodyear Tires Eagle RSA's... or read on for more of how the manufacturer describes these tires. These are considered High Performance All-Season tires, and are designed for drivers that want predictable handling with a H or V speed rated tire. These tires are said to have all-season traction including light snow (though the non-biased tire reviews don't reflect this). You'll find Eagle RSA's as OE (original equipment) on many sports cars and performance sedans. Goodyear Tires developed the Eagle RS-A to excel in all conditions, and part of the design is the unique asymmetrical tread design. It is intended to deliver traction in the dry, wet and snow with consistent effectiveness. Premium sidewall styling adds to the looks of the RSA. - Unique asymmetric tread design delivers excellent traction and quiet ride.
- Aggressive shoulder tread blocks and wide lateral grooves provide superior road handling under wet, dry or snowy conditions (all-season rated).
- Premium sidewall styling accents today's performance cars.
- Available in a wide range of sizes and speed ratings.
Positive Online Tire Review Comments: -
"These are the original tires on my 2007 Acadia. At 60,000 miles they look like they will last 80,000. Not very good in snow or wet. Dry handling is very good. Good value for the money when replaced." -
"I have not noticed all the road noise as other reviewers have stated. At 40K miles I think these are pretty good tires." -
"Except noise and comfort of the ride, I would rate these tires as being pretty good for the price." -
"This is the OE tire on my Toyota Matrix XR. Still looking good at 48K miles. I will likely replace at 55K. Handling isn't too good in wet weather, but other than that they ride real nice." -
"I have read the other reviews and all I can say is that you have to take care of these tires. Personally, I'm happy with the Eagle RS-A's and will buy again." -
"These are tires that came on my car. I have nearly 70K so far and will replace soon. I have driven in dry, wet, and light snow and am pleased with these tires. I rotate every 7,500 miles and they have worn evenly." -
"I have been reading the reviews for the Goodyear Eagle RS-A and felt compelled to come to the defense of this great tire. I purchased a new 2008 Impala SS which had these tires on it from the factory. I have put nearly 73,000 miles on these tires and still have tread left." - "This tire comes with my Nissan Maxima. They look nice and have a comfortable ride; gets a bit noisy and bumpy at times. No real problems except for virtually no traction if there is ice or slush."
Negative Comments: -
"Only got 25K miles in city driving. Tread life is very short as I typically get over 50,000 on a set of tires. These were also very noisy in all types of driving. would not purchase again. Will be looking at Michelin for my next set." -
"This is my first set of Goodyear Tires. Price was the deciding factor, but unfortunately these tires did not last long at all. I have only two years on these tires (less than 40K miles) and they are basically bald." -
"What a disaster. My car has only 20,000 miles and I've had the tires rotated three times. Two of these Eagle RSA's are bald and a third is starting to shred on the sidewall." -
"HORRIBLE in the ice and snow. AWFUL!!! Had the tires siped. Helped a little bit. Great dry traction for the first 15-20,000 miles. That has been diminishing some what. Wet traction-same. " -
"Dang... these tires are very noisy and the tread wear was deplorable. I couldn't even find anyone to honor the manufacturers warranty. The traction was crappy, on wet or dry pavement. Even with proper rotation things still wore before 20k. Looking to replace all four." -
"Bought these babies on my Goodyear credit card, and I tell you these tires are complete garbage at less than 20,000 miles" -
"I have 18,000 miles on them now, and let me tell you, they are very noisy. The noise from these tires is almost unbearable." -
"Inside of six months I was hydroplaning in lite rain." -
"OE on my M3 and I cannot wait to replace them. Decent ride in dry conditions. Poor wet or snow traction. Doesn't grab well on initial takeoff--tires spin even in dry conditions. They do hydroplane easily and were totally worn out at 20,000 miles" -
"These Eagle RSA's have been balanced four times and still vibrate enough to shake steering wheel... I ultimately went out and bought Goodyear Assurance TripleTred which have much superior quality... I think Goodyear Tires has really dropped the ball on these tire." -
"The traction is fine, they do just okay in wet driving conditions, there was occasional hydroplaning but I usually attribute that to my driving rather than the tire. I never felt unsafe driving with these until they started really wearing down. However, by about 22000 miles (with standard rotating and maintenance), the front tires were in desperate need of replacement. " -
"Road noise started getting loud around 62k and at 68k has really become annoying." Final thoughts from tire-reviews-online.com on Goodyear Tires Eagle RSA's: Well well well... what more can really be said. These tires have bad online reviews that outweigh good by a long shot. Yes, there were some good reviews on the Eagle RSA's. However many of those tire reviews were made when the tires had low miles on them (typically less than 10,000 miles). For some people the experience the Eagle RSA's were so bad that the reviewer stated that they would never even buy Goodyear Tires again. One reviewer went as far as to say that Goodyear really dropped the ball on the Eagle RSA's. Negative reviews outweigh the positive ones by so much that I question the validity of the positive comments. On this site we have no bias of one tire to another, and we show a balance of positive and negative online tire reviews from real people. This write up was difficult because there are just so many negative experiences. Some positive reviewers claim that people may only get 20K miles because they are not doing frequent tire rotations. This is possible, but many reviewers state frequent rotations and have also claimed long tred life with other tires they've owned. This Goodyear tire price is about $110 at Discount Tire Company for the V-Rated (more on Tire Speed Ratings) P225/45R18. Our final thought here at tire-reviews-online.com? This isn't a very good product put out by Goodyear Tires. Price isn't everything and in the long run you may find yourself replacing these tires sooner than you think. Even if you do get decent miles out of them, you may find the tires noisy. If you'd really like to put something on your Goodyear credit card you may consider the Eagle G2's or Goodyear Assurance TripleTred. |
