Major disappointment!

by Richard

Decided to spend the extra money on these Michelins and two years later they started to dry rot- spider cracks in sidewalls. Returned them for a partial credit and two years later guess what? Same thing! I am done with Michelins!

Michelin dry-rot NEW
by: Parker

In Jan. of 2011 at 40K miles, I replaced the OEM Dunlop tires on my '08 Honda Fit with four new Michelin P195/55R15's. Three years and 20K miles later the Michelins still had good tread left, but I was advised on two different occasions by different mechanics that the tires had severe sidewall checking and splits between treads and should probably be replaced. I did some investigation and found that Michelin and most other tire manufacturers' warranties do not cover "weather checking" of tires.

So, even though the tires have good tread remaining now at 30K miles, in the interest of safety I have decided to replace all four tires. However, I'll be buying something other than Michelin, in the hope that a different manufacturer uses a more weather resistant rubber compound in their tires.
